Privacy Policy
1. Overview
SoleMate is a peer-to-peer marketplace for buying, selling, and swapping single sneakers. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use SoleMate, we may collect:
- Account data — name, email address, password (stored hashed by our auth provider), profile photo, and optional profile details.
- Marketplace data — listings you create (photos, title, size, foot side, price, condition notes), messages in chat, swap offers, reviews, feedback, and support tickets.
- Approximate location — city/region-level location when you allow location access, used to show nearby listings. We do not require a street address for browsing.
- Payment data — payment and payout processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on SoleMate servers. We may store Stripe customer / Connect account identifiers and escrow order status.
- Verification data — if you submit amputee / limb- difference verification materials, we process them only to evaluate that request.
- Device & usage data — IP address, browser or app version, pages/screens viewed, and diagnostic events for reliability and product improvement.

We may also share information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
The web app may use essential cookies or local storage for sign-in sessions, preferences (such as cookie consent), and approximate location labels you choose to save. Analytics tools may use similar identifiers when enabled.
6. Data retention
We keep account and transaction records as long as your account is active and as needed for escrow, disputes, legal, tax, and security obligations. You may request deletion of your account; some records may be retained where required by law or for legitimate business needs (for example completed payment history).

We use industry-standard safeguards (encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable processors). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8. Your choices and rights
